This assessment task relates to Unit Learning Outcomes 1 to 5 and can be undertaken individually or in a group of up to 4 students. Distance students can form groups with on-campus students as well. Using top-down network design methodology, you will develop your logical network design based on the scenario given on page 5 of this document. You may make any justifiable assumptions but you should mention them wherever you use. You are also expected to contribute to the Group Discussion Forum in Moodle by finding the answers to the recommended weekly group discussion questions (Q2 of Week 4, Q2 of Week 5 and Q2 of Week 6). This assessment task has two parts, Part A and Part B.
Part A of Assessment Task (individual)
In Part A of this assessment task, you should analyse the given scenario and individually prepare and deliver a presentation on your contribution to the logical network design of your group using the top-down network design methodology. You should individually prepare the presentation slides and create a video of your presentation. The part of contribution that you make should be agreed with your group members and communicated to your tutor and the unit coordinator via email in Week 4.
If you are not in a group, i.e., if you are working individually, your video and presentation slides should cover the entire logical network design.
You should upload your presentation slides to Moodle and your video to YouTube, and provide the link to the video on the presentation slides. If you password protect your video, please ensure that you provide the login credentials to access the video as well. The length of your video should be limited to 4 min if you are in a group of 4 members, to 5 min if you are in a group of 3 members, to 7 min if you are in a group of 2 members and to 12 min if you are not in a group. Please note that a video presentation means that you, as the presenter, should be visible in the video.
Note: You must follow the Harvard citation and referencing guidelines when preparing your presentation slides.
Check the unit website at least once a week for further information relating to this part of the assessment task. Please ensure that you prepare your presentation slides in your own words to avoid possible plagiarism and copyright violation. You can understand the Plagiarism Procedures by following the corresponding link in the CQUniversity Policies section of the Unit Profile.
Assessment Criteria for Part A
In Part A of this assessment task, you are assessed mainly against your ability to analyse the given scenario and individually prepare and deliver a presentation on your contribution to the logical network design of your group, using the top-down network design methodology. The marking criteria for Part A of this assessment task are provided on page 3. You need to familiarise yourself with the marking criteria to ensure that you have addressed them when preparing the presentation slides and creating the video of your presentation.
