Saint Mary's University Fake News and Misinformation Discussion

I’m studying for my Psychology class and need an explanation.

“An online game [‘Bad News’] in which people play the role of propaganda producers to help them identify real world disinformation has been shown to increase ‘psychological resistance’ to fake news, according to a study of 15,000 participants” (https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/06/190624204800.htm)

Assignment

1. Try out the Bad News game (https://www.getbadnews.com/#intro);
2. In a few sentences, describe your experience as a player of the game; and
3. In another few sentences, relate your experience (and/or the findings of the researchers who conducted the study; see the first link above) to the material in Chapter 3 on social cognition (e.g., the distinction between automatic thinking and controlled thinking).
