A t-test is a type of statistical test that compares the mean of two different groups. T-tests are important in my own life because they can help me be a more informed pet owner. For example, I could read studies comparing the health of dogs that eat grain-free vs. “regular” types of food to see if these two treatment groups were significantly different.
Data can be visualized in different types of graphs, such as pie charts, bar graphs, scatter plots, and histograms. In my own life it is important for me to be able to recognize and interpret these types of graphs to be an informed consumer of news media that often presents facts and statistics in graph form.
